LAS VEGAS, Nevada — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced that the promotion will return to southern California in May. LFA 184 will feature a light-heavyweight showdown between two of the promotion’s most decorated homegrown prospects, when the promotion returns to the west coast. LFA 184 will be the eighteenth LFA event to take place in the Golden State.

LFA 184, Presented by RESILITE, takes place Friday, May 17th at The Commerce Casino & Hotel in Commerce, California, which is located in southeast Los Angeles County.

The main event will feature a light-heavyweight showdown between former LFA champion Ozzy Diaz and UFC veteran Bevon Lewis. The entire main card will be available worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.

“We are excited to bring another stacked fight card to my home state of California at LFA 184,” stated Soares. “The main event will see former LFA champion Ozzy Diaz square off with UFC veteran Bevon Lewis in a high-stakes light-heavyweight showdown. Diaz is a Los Angeles native that just enjoyed a successful transition to 205-pounds after winning and vacating our middleweight title. He will face Lewis, who is another homegrown talent that is returning to the LFA Octagon to reinvent himself as light-heavyweight after a four-fight stint in the UFC as a middleweight. This bout brings guaranteed fireworks and intrigue to our exciting light-heavyweight division.”

Tickets for LFA 184: Diaz vs. Lewis are available for purchase NOW through LFATIX.com.

Diaz (8-2) is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the MMA hotbed of southern California in recent years. The proud Angeleno has built his popularity on the strength of a fan-friendly fighting style that has never seen him go past the second round in any of his fights. The knockout artist’s reputation has been on full display during his first three LFA fights, where he has earned three first round knockout wins. The first win earned him a shot at the LFA middleweight title, which he won in his second appearance for the promotion. After being invited to compete on Dana White’s Contender Series, Diaz took time off to bulk up and make a run in the light-heavyweight division. That move paid dividends as Diaz starched Bellator veteran Chuck Campbell in his debut in his new weight class at LFA 178. Now Diaz will return home to southern California to headline LFA 184 in the same building he won his LFA middleweight title two years ago.

Lewis (7-4) is a man that has been destined for greatness from the onset of his career. After winning his first two fights, Lewis was signed by the LFA and would fight three-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler Sonny Yohn at LFA 10. Lewis defeated the blue-chip prospect and immediately caught the attention of UFC brass as he was invited to compete on the first season of Dana White’s Contender Series, where he knocked out TUF 23 quarter-finalist Elias Urbina. After the win, the UFC President said, “I think he has a ton of talent. Both the matchmakers think that this guy is special and could be something. What we’re going to do is we’re going to take this kid and put him in our developmental league.” Lewis would do just that by picking up another win at LFA 38. This earned him another shot on Contender Series, where he scored another knockout win and a UFC contract from Dana White. Now Lewis, like Diaz, is returning to the LFA to fulfill his promise in MMA as a light-heavyweight.
